Dance

Swing Dance

Time: Friday, 8:00PM - 10:30PM
Lesson: 8:00PM - 8:30PM
Dance: 8:30PM - 10:30PM
Teacher:Killian
DJ Amy Kucharik

Swing dancing is a dance style, originating from Harlem, New York with African-American Roots. The feeling of the dance is "swinging", as it developed to the swing style of jazz music from the 1920s to the 1950s. Swing dancing has not only that "swinging" feeling but lots of space for improvisation between partners. Swing dancing is danced socially, which makes it interactive, fun and a great time as you get to meet and dance with lots of different people. All experience levels are welcome and encouraged, and it is not necessary to bring a partner.

Browncoats Ball & Social Dance

Time: Friday, 11:00PM - 5:00AM
DJs: Dirge & Xero

Here's how it is: It's the first night of Arisia. You're looking to socialise, dance a bit; maybe solo, maybe with a partner all fancy-like. DJs Dirge & Xero start the evening off with a selection of down-tempo blues, swing, jazz, & steam-punk inspired tunes. As the evening progresses they will turn up the beat to keep you dancing through the night. Dress casual or make a show of your shiny period-piece frills & frocks while you revel with the rebels!

All experience levels are welcome and encouraged, and it is not necessary to bring a partner.

Because the pattern of moves of each Contra Dance is repeated often, Contra Dances are easy to learn and both beginning and experienced dancers happily share the same set.
